Does 'Evil Dead' Count as Zombie Content?

I hate that I just used the word "content" in that manner, but whatever. I've thought about this a lot over the years, and I'm just not sure. With a new Evil Dead movie out, we should really settle this as a society once and for all, I feel like.

Whereas it seems like Evil Dead has always been considered part of the zombie phylum, seeing as how it has "dead" in the name and its monsters are known as "deadites," I can't help but think of the whole concept as more of a possession situation than a reanimation of dead people. 

In other words, it bears much more of a resemblance to The Exorcist than any proper zombie outing. Maybe we could just call it zombie-adjacent. Or zomb-ish. I don't know.

Anyway, Evil Dead Burn is awesome and extremely gory, and you should go see it. If you're into that sort of thing.

    I kind of like zombie adjacent. Deadites are human remains with the soul scooped (or swallowed) replaced not with delicious nougat but ancient obnoxious - in the Raimi era at least EEEVIL so yeah not zombies technically.
    I'm thinking of at least one exception to the destroyed soul thing in the originals - Ash! He got to flush out the Deadite. Sorry, off topic.
    Is Evil Dead Burn better than Rise?
    P.S. Are the the things in ReAnimator zombies. I mean, they *are* undead?

      Thanks. I've been getting a few people saying it was better than Rise which seemed a little sus. This sounds more like it. Have to watch now.

    Btw I like that you have my (pedantic?!) loathing of the word “content" being continually used that way. Hell NO!
