My Encounter With Mandeep

It has been a long, long time since I've written a real blog. Since the pandemic days, in fact. But this warrants it. So there I was, going about my usual afternoon busywork at the AVN compound, when I hear a call from downstairs: "Hello?" I thought I heard my co-worker moving in that direction to see what was up, but then a few minutes later: "Hello?" Looked like it was gonna be up to me. So down the stairs I plodded, and immediately found myself face-to-face with a short, pudgy, balding man seemingly of Indian descent, whom I will call "Mandeep" for the purposes of discretion.  "Hello sir, is there somebody I can talk to here? This is the AVN?" he asked me. "Well yes, what do you need?" I asked. "I have traveled so far, I just need to talk with somebody who can help me," he implored. "OK ... what's happening? What's your question?" I persisted. "I want to find out how can I get into the industry?...

UPDATE: Diet Dr. Pepper & Cream Soda Is a Thing

If you follow me on Twitter, you probably already know about this discovery, but just in case: I learned earlier today that my new favorite beverage, Dr. Pepper & Cream Soda, is also available in diet form, and once again, this has righted my world in a glorious way after a not-too-great Friday.

To back up, yesterday, not only did my new (to me) computer start giving me a really nasty problem for which there may or may not be any solution, but I had a "telephonic visit" with my doctor, who basically told me that my health is shit and I need to make some ... adjustments, let's call them. Among those adjustments is that I absolutely, positively cannot be drinking non-diet anything, and thus my new favorite beverage seemed to have just gotten rudely and abruptly yanked right out of my grasp.

I was in a pretty bad funk over all of this last night, generally feeling like a rotten human being, and taking pleasure only in the fact that it was the weekend and I could sleep for the next two days. But then this morning, it occurred to me, Hey wait a second ... is there any chance they might at some point make a DIET Dr. Pepper & Cream Soda? So I took to Twitter to beg and plead with Dr. Pepper directly to make this so, and lo and behold, right across the top of the Dr. Pepper page was a picture of regular and DIET DR. PEPPER & CREAM SODA side-by-side, as if the company had heard my prayer before I could even voice it and sent me a message through the Twitter ether that my dream was already a reality.

Now the only question was where to find it. I had not previously seen the diet version anywhere that had the regular version. So of course I asked Twitter, and within minutes, trusty adult industry pr guy Bosco came through with the tip that they had it at the Ralph's in Woodland Hills.

I am in no way exaggerating when I say I immediately jumped in my car and sped to the Ralph's in Woodland Hills. And there I was greeted much to my exultation by an entire tower of Diet Dr. Pepper & Cream Soda cases. There was a sale going on them, too: three cases for $12. Knowing I would most assuredly consume them all, I partook of this three-case deal and headed home with my treasure.

What I'm ultimately getting at here is, thank you Dr. Pepper for continuing to be the best thing in my life and a true hero when I need one. I will never forsake you.
